Standardization

Standardization strategies and initiatives are tailored and applied to functions within both clinical and logistics communities. The DMMPO will enhance medical materiel standardization by:

• Centrally managing the standardization queue,
• Coordinating analysis,
• Administering the repository containing the analysis and list of standards, and
• Facilitating the issuance of memoranda that establish materiel standards

Materiel Management

The DMMPO objective for materiel management is to successfully organize and recommend the selection, acquisition and fielding of the supplies and equipment used to conduct clinical care within the Military Health System. This will include oversight of individual items, systems and deployable assemblages.

Coordinate Transferred Programs

The DMMPO may coordinate and/or manage programs currently executed by the Services if the assignment is within the mission of the DMMPO and there is clear delivery of business value for two or more Services. Business value is defined as a favorable outcome from a business case analysis where the costs are lower and/or the outcome or performance is equivalent or better than the result experienced from the existing execution structure.
